Magnesium Wheels
Magnesium is the main metallic component used in “mags,” or car rims. They are more common in racing motorsports since they are often the lightest and are created by casting or forging. One of the reasons magnesium isn’t a popular material for wheels is that it corrodes more easily. However, there have been reports that magnesium wheels can catch fire. Magnesium alloys are less combustible than pure magnesium.
